2024 Report and Financial Statements Summary:
Glamorgan County Cricket Club’s financial results for 2024 are released today and they show an EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation) profit of £272k compared to a figure of £348k in 2023 and a budget of £368k. The Club suffered a c.£100k cost for unforeseen damage to one of its floodlight columns so that aside the result was very close to budget. Total revenues were 3.4% above budget for the year and we increased cricket investment accordingly as the year progressed.
2024 was the last year of a 5 year funding agreement with the ECB and 2025 brings a new funding and major match agreements which last until 2028 and 2031 respectively. The Club is forecasting EBITDA to rise to c.£1m in 2025, a level which is sustainable going forward and which will allow the Club to invest across a number of areas over that period.
This underlying improvement is in addition to the substantial capital injection which the Club will receive upon conclusion of the Hundred investment process – precise details of which will be published in due course.
CEO, Dan Cherry, said that “2024, whilst challenging in many respects, has been a year when we’ve been able to start establishing much firmer foundations for the future. This is a process which has been slowly building for some time but will now start to accelerate rapidly. With the growth of cricket globally and in the UK it’s a very exciting time for the Club”.
