Ever since the mid-1960s, Glamorgan have staged an annual match in North Wales at Colwyn Bay CC's well-appointed ground in Rhos-on-Sea.Colwyn Bay entered the Glamorgan record books in 2000 as Steve James became the first batsman in the county club's history to score a triple hundred as he made 309* against Sussex and shared in a record opening stand of 374 with Matthew Elliott, as Glamorgan posted their highest ever first-class score of 718-3.In 2015 the ground also saw a high-scoring Championship match with Lancashire, with the visitors posting 698-5 with double-hundreds from Alviro Petersen and Ashwell Prince, as the pair of South Africans added a record 501 for the third wicket. The ground has seen some remarkable bowling performances, with Glamorgan's Tony Cordle coming on as seventh change in the match against Leicestershire in 1969 and ending up with the remarkable figures of 9/49. In the Championship match at Colwyn Bay in 1999 Glamorgan reduced Nottinghamshire to 9/6 after a superb opening spell by Steve Watkin who took 5 wickets for just 2 runs in a 22-ball spell.Colwyn Bay was also the ground where Glamorgan clinched the Totesport League title in 2004 by defeating Lancashire - for whom the ground was closer to reach from their headquarters in Manchester than for the Glamorgan players and staff, based around 180 miles away in South Wales.
