Maynard names 12-man squad for Surrey match

Head coach Matt Maynard has named a 12-man squad for our Vitality Blast match against Surrey tomorrow at Sophia Gardens.

The squad is without opening batsman Nick Selman who tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday, as well as Australian pair Marnus Labuschagne and Michael Neser who were identified as possible close contacts and are therefore unavailable for selection.

Both batsman Billy Root and all-rounder Sam Pearce retain their places in the squad after being called up in the defeat to Middlesex at Radlett yesterday.

Glamorgan are currently in seventh place in the South Group on six points with five matches left to play in the group stage, while Surrey sit in third place on 11 - the top four from the group will reach the knockout stages of the competition.

View from the camp – Matt Maynard

“There’s still an outside chance of qualification, but we’ve got to win every single game.

“I was very pleased with how Roman Walker went against Middlesex, he hit a length and made it difficult for them.

“The Delta variant is very contagious. We have to still respect that we are in the middle of a pandemic and although things are opening up, we’ve still got to be very careful.”
