Yorkshire win by 4 runs
Glamorgan aim to top Group 1 and clinch home semi-final

Head coach David Harrison has named an unchanged 13-man squad for our final group stage match in the Royal London Cup against Yorkshire Vikings at Sophia Gardens tomorrow (12th August).

The Welsh county sit top of Group 2 on 10 points and are poised to reach the knockout stages of a List A competition for the first time since 2013.

With the top three teams of each group reaching the knockouts, Glamorgan have a two-point lead over Yorkshire Vikings and have a better net run-rate than tomorrow’s opponents, as well as Surrey and Somerset - the only sides who can equal their current points tally.

A win would guarantee top place in the group and a home semi-final, while a narrow defeat could also result in a first-place finish if results go our way.

Second in the group would secure a home quarter-final against the team who came third in the opposing group.

View from the camp – James Weighell

“It’s a brilliant feeling being top, and the lads would love to finish on a high against Yorkshire and go straight through to the semi-finals where it’s basically a one game shootout and then you’re into the final.

“Yorkshire are a strong side and it’s a difficult competition where everyone seems to be beating everyone and you don’t know what’s going to turn up on the day and how pitches are going to play.

“We’ve got an experienced batter in Hamish at the top and an experienced bowler in Hoges starting off for us with the ball, who has done very well all tournament which helps.

“Getting off to a great start in the competition was key and we got some good early wins and once you’re ahead it’s hard for other teams to catch up if you keep performing as we’ve done which has been credit to all the players and the whole squad.”
