Head coach Matt Maynard has named a 12-man squad for the T20 friendly against the Netherlands at Sophia Gardens tomorrow.

The match starts at 2.30pm and is being used as a warm-up for the upcoming Vitality Blast, which begins on Thursday, 18th July with ‘The Big Match’ against local rivals Somerset, before Middlesex come to town on Friday, 26th July with a team packed full of international stars.

Craig Meschede returns to the squad for the first time since his injury and will provide extra firepower to the squad as he top scored in the recent World T20 qualifying tournament for Germany, where he scored at a strike rate of over 150 and hit 14 sixes in five games, including five in one over against Denmark.

He also enjoyed a successful 2018 Vitality Blast where he was moved up to open the innings and hit 247 runs at a strike rate of 155 in his 10 innings in the tournament.

Roman Walker is included in the squad after receiving a call-up to the recent Specsavers County Championship squad against Worcestershire. Walker made his List A debut for the club in the televised Royal London One-Day Cup fixture against Sussex, finishing with figures of 0-24 from his four overs and hitting the winning six over mid-wicket to secure a famous victory for Glamorgan.

Marchant de Lange is called up after being rested for the Specsavers County Championship against Worcestershire. de Lange missed the Vitality Blast in 2018 due to injury but returned to T20 action in South Africa in the Mzansi Super League, taking seven wickets in the competition and was Glamorgan’s leading wicket-taker in the 2019 Royal London One-Day Cup with 16 wickets at an average of just over 26.

Marnus Labuschagne remains in the squad after hitting twin centuries against Worcestershire, while Tom Cullen is also selected with club captain Chris Cooke still making his return from injury playing for the seconds.

Tickets for the match are only £5 for adults and free for all members, season ticket holders, students and juniors.
