13-man squad named for Cheltenham trip

Head Coach Matt Maynard has named an unchanged 13-man squad to face Gloucestershire in the Vitality Blast at Cheltenham today.

Glamorgan lost their opening fixture against local rivals Somerset, and will be looking to get their first win of the campaign under their belts.

There were fifties for David Lloyd and skipper Colin Ingram, and Jeremy Lawlor announced himself to the Glamorgan faithful with an eye-catching 43 on his T20 debut as he and Lloyd dominated the powerplay in an opening stand of 88.

“It was nice to contribute," said Lawlor. "It was a shame about the result. Largely I thought we played a lot of good cricket, but then we were probably 30 or 40 short, and didn’t execute our plans with the ball and it kind of got away from us a bit.

“You try your best in T20’s, it’s a bit of a lottery at times and you need to have a bit of luck at times. You go out there with your game plan and sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn’t.

"Luckily it came off last night for Dave and I. I do really enjoy batting with Dave, he is a great player and is great fun to bat with, and we had a great time out there.

“I just went out there and tried to play my game. To be fair Matt has been really good with helping me with that, and it has given me the confidence to go out there and back myself.

"I really enjoyed it, it's just a shame about the result."

Glamorgan travel to Gloucestershire to take part in the Cheltenham festival, and Lawlor was looking forward to being in action against familiar opponents at one of the more popular out-grounds.

“They are a very good white-ball team,” said Lawlor. “They are always tough opposition but we have gone pretty well against them in all formats this season so hopefully we can carry that momentum into the game.

“The out-grounds always bring something different, its going to be difficult with a 2:30 start after tonight, but I am looking forward to it.

"I was there last year at the Cheltenham festival and it was a great day."

Glamorgan squad to face Somerset: Ingram*, Cooke+, Lloyd, Lawlor, Morgan, Root, Carlson, Douthwaite, Wagg, Hogan, Salter, de Lange and Carey.
