Head coach Matt Maynard has made one change to his squad for Glamorgan’s opening home match in this year’s Bob Willis Trophy competition.
Veteran seamer Michael Hogan is rested after playing back-to-back games and is replaced by Lukas Carey.
This will be the Welsh county’s first match of the season at Sophia Gardens having previously played against Somerset in Taunton and Worcestershire earlier this week where the team secured a battling draw.
Kiran Carlson has started the season in the number three position, scoring 79 in Glamorgan's first innings at New Road, and is relishing the challenge at the top of the order, as well as the return to Sophia Gardens for the first time this year.
"I'm enjoying it. It's a tough gig. I have to take it on the chin that I'll get a few good balls and some low scores but I'm enjoying the pressure and the target on you when you bat at 3.
"It's exciting and all the boys love playing at home. It's a bit different with different changing rooms and one-way systems but it's exciting to play again at Sophia Gardens and hopefully the rain will hold off."
Glamorgan have faced Gloucestershire on plenty of occasions over recent years, and the familiarity between the two sides is something that Carlson believes creates an entertaining and hard-fought fixture.
"We just need to keep sticking to our own processes. We're going in the right direction. It was nice to get a big score in the first innings but we didn't do ourselves justice in the second innings with the bat.
"If we can keep on moving forward against Gloucestershire and put in a good performance over the next four days that will be good.
"We've played Gloucestershire quite often recently, it's a good joust between us. it's gone either way quite a lot, we know thier players and they know us, it'll be a close contest and hopefully we come out on top over the 4 days."
