Head Coach Robert Croft was delighted to see his Glamorgan charges claim an opening match win in this year\'s Royal London One Day Cup away at Bristol against 2015 champions Gloucestershire.
After an 18th List A century for captain Jacques Rudolph, it was two wickets in an over from his compatriot Colin Ingram that proved the turning-point as Glamorgan beat Gloucestershire by 18 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Glamorgan head coach Robert Croft said: "It was an important innings by Jacques Rudolph both from a team and an individual perspective. For the team it shored up one end and enabled us to build around Jacques, while for him it was all about building the confidence all batsmen need to thrive.
"Colin Ingram is first and foremost a very talented cricketer. But he is also a tremendous competitor who relishes a battle. It is tough bowling leg-spin to players like Michael Klinger and Jack Taylor when they are out to attack, but Colin's experience meant he bowled very few four-balls.
"It's a great start for us, but as a team we are not targeting any particular competititon this season. We want to do well in all of them."
Glamorgan captain Jacques Rudolph, who went past 10,000 career List A runs in his knock of 121 which was the second highest score in List A cricket for Glamorgan against Gloucestershire after Jimmy Maher hit 142 in 2001, was grateful to Ingram's impact with bat and ball.
"It turned out to be a very good game," added centurion Rudolph. "I think it would have been more difficult if we'd had to go the full 50 overs but our bowlers held their nerve really well, then Colin came at the end and took those three wickets which blew them out of the window.
"It was a good wicket to bat on, if on the slow side, and we had to rebuild the innings after we lost two crucial wickets, Colin and Aneurin Donald- but I thought 280 was a par score and we were just three runs short of that.
"10,000 runs could be a sign I'm getting on a bit, but it's a nice milestone and something I've always wanted to achieve- hopefully I can carry on this form."
