Andy Gorvin Signs For Another Two Years

Glamorgan Cricket are pleased to announce that right-arm seamer Andy Gorvin has put pen to paper to extend his time at the Club for another two years.

2024 has been a breakthrough summer for the all-rounder as his contributions with bat and ball made him an invaluable member of the Glamorgan side which won the 2024 Metro Bank One Day Cup title.

He is the joint leading wicket taker alongside Glamorgan teammate Dan Douthwaite and Warwickshire’s Ed Barnard in the Metro Bank One Day Cup with 19 wickets to his name.  This involved delivering some frugal spells during the 50-overs competition, including a career-best 5/56 against Notts Outlaws at Neath.

Together with Jamie McIlroy, the right-handed batter also steered Glamorgan to a nail-biting one-wicket success at The Gnoll against Sussex Sharks.

He completed a maiden five-wicket haul in the Club’s Vitality County Championship victory over Sussex at Sophia Gardens, and 3/26 against Gloucestershire in Vitality Blast.

These performances for the Welsh Club earnt him the Balconiers’ Most Improved Player of the Season Award for 2024.

Gorvin captained St Fagans while studying at Cardiff University and was a regular member of the Cardiff UCCE team when he attracted the attention of Glamorgan. He made his First Class debut for the Club in 2022 playing against Leicestershire at Sophia Gardens, after making his Club debut in the Royal London Cup-winning side of 2021.

Gorvin on signing his extension said: “‘I’m delighted to sign an extension with the club. I’ve loved every minute of my time at Glamorgan so far and look forward to building on the work we’ve put in this year to press on for promotion and beyond.

“Hopefully I can impact more games in the future and I’m very happy to be part of an exciting time for the Club.”

Glamorgan Cricket’s Director of Cricket, Mark Wallace added: “Andrew has had an excellent season breaking into the team in all formats. He’s a highly popular member of the squad, hard working and diligent and we’re delighted that he’ll be with us for the next two years.”
