Ashes 2015: All roads lead to first Test in Cardiff

After England's impressive performances against New Zealand, heads have now purely turned to the meeting with Australia in the Welsh capital on July 8 following the culmination of the series with New Zealand.
Morgan, who skippered England in the shorter format wins, was quick to praise Paul Farbrace who now steps down as Trevor Bayliss takes over and also Joe Root who is quickly establishing himself as the rock of English Cricket.

Credit to (interim coach) Paul Farbrace and the backroom staff and everyone in the squad.

It was probably a par score and Joe Root was outstanding again and continues scoring runs in every format of the game. His hunger and determination to cash in as much as he can when he is on form is a great example in our changing room.

Looking towards the Ashes summer, Morgan admitted there is still work to be done

He added: We continued to turn out runs with a solid rate and with the ball we need to keep growing our skills as we go on. Certainly as we continue to win games we are learning a lot more.

Batsman Root thinks England's new approach has been refreshing.

I thought that was a good score, we went looking for wickets and it was hard for them to chase it down, the Yorkshireman said.

We need to keep developing as a side so we need to make sure we keep moving forwards.

It's hard to explain, everyone has gone out this summer with a freedom and it's really refreshing to see everyone commit to it and absolutely go for it.
