BACK IN YELLOW: ONE-DAY CUP RETURNS

1 Aug 2025 | Cricket

As August returns we're back in yellow for a solid month of the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.

Glamorgan Men's Preview

Defending 2024 champions Glamorgan Men will kickstart their Metro Bank One-Day Cup campaign at Neath Cricket Club on Tuesday 5 August against Hampshire. The Welsh county heads over to the 50-over competition off the back of two successive victories in the Rothesay County Championship, which sees them in the second position in Division Two.

2021’s Interim Head Coach David Harrison will take back the reigns for 2025, with Richard Dawson having The Hundred commitments with Welsh Fire at Sophia Gardens. Colin Ingram, Glamorgan’s top-scorer in the 2024 edition, will assist David Harrison in the Glamorgan support staff as the Welsh county will look towards younger players to step up and contribute with both bat and ball.

Kiran Carlson, Glamorgan’s captain in the Vitality Blast, will take the One-Day Cup captaincy role from the Club’s red-ball captain, Sam Northeast. The two-time Metro Bank One-Day Cup-winning captain will look to have a solid start to the tournament, which helped his team in the previous edition, as Glamorgan finished on top of their group.

Dan Douthwaite and Andy Gorvin, the joint-top wicket-takers of the 2024 edition along with Warwickshire’s Ed Barnard, will continue to have major roles with the ball. Timm van der Gugten and Jamie McIlroy are set to miss the opening games of the tournament.

With Mason Crane and Ben Kellaway off to the Hundred with Welsh Fire, Glamorgan will look to find the next young talent from the current squad to step up and excel, just as Ben Kellaway did last year!
