Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes hit half-centuries to steer England to another victory in the Royal London One Day International Series, as the hosts made it 4-0 at Headingley.
It was a more stern test for Eoin Morgan's side, who lost Jos Buttler to a hamstring injury 30 minutes before the start of play and then found themselves 72/4 in pursuit of 248 to win.
That brought Stokes (69) and Bairstow (61) together and the pair shared a fifth-wicket stand of 103 which thrust England back into the driving seat.
Earlier, Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali struck a composed 80 before allrounder Imad Wasim impressed with a quickfire 57 not out off 41 balls. Adil Rashid took 3/47 for the home side.
Pakistan's innings had never really got going. They trundled along at four runs per over and lost wickets at regular intervals.
Sharjeel Khan had threatened with one or two early leg-side boundaries but he skied a fuller ball from Chris Jordan to Stokes in the covers for 16. Sami Aslam also found Stokes in the in-field to gift Liam Plunkett a first wicket.
When Babar Azam and Sarfraz Ahmed both fell for 12 and Mohammaed Rizwan was trapped LBW by Rashid for 5, Pakistan were in trouble once again with the score 152/5.
The big wicket came when Azhar Ali found David Willey off Rashid, but thanks to Imad's brisk half-century, the visitors were able to reach a respectable total.
And even after the early losses of the in-form Alex Hales and Jason Roy – both snared by the 7ft tall Mohammad Irfan, England would have still fancied their chances of chasing down 248 for victory. But when Joe Root miscued a pull and top edged to fine leg and Morgan could only steer a cut shot to slip off Umar Gul.
Stokes and Bairstow have often proven a dangerous pairing for England, famously compiling a record partnership in South Africa in the winter when Stokes hit his Test-best 258 and Bairstow made a century. They showed composure and steered England to a impregnable position.
Despite the Durham man falling to Wasim for 69 and Azhar running out Bairstow, Moeen Ali arrived at the crease to blast England to victory with an unbeaten 45. He was accompanied by Willey as England ran out comfortable winners with two overs to spare.
Morgan and his men will now be gunning for a series whitewash in the finale One Day International at The SSE SWALEC on Sunday.
