Glamorgan Cricket would like to congratulate Barry Cawte on his appointment as the new Cricket Wales Chief Executive following an extensive recruitment process.
Barry, originally from County Meath in Ireland, lives in Newport and is currently the Chief Executive of Scottish Hockey and a member of the GB Hockey Board. He has 25 years’ experience across a range of sports having previously been CEO of the Welsh Rugby Players’ Association, the representative body for professional rugby players, and he has also served as the first Independent Chair of Tennis Wales. He was also the National Tennis & Sports Manager for Greenwich Leisure LTD, the largest leisure and sports operator in the UK. In these roles Barry has had a significant impact on grass roots sport, increasing commercial revenue streams and driving equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Barry Cawte said “I am ecstatic to be joining Cricket Wales. I have admired the journey that the organisation has been on in the last few years and the progress it has made to make cricket as inclusive as possible. This is an area I am particularly passionate about and I want to drive the momentum already made in this space. I am extremely excited about the growth potential of cricket and getting out and about in the cricket community. I look forward to working with the board, staff team, Glamorgan Cricket, the ECB, Sport Wales, and all other partners.

Barry will take up his role on 10th June 2024. Mark Frost will continue as Interim CEO until then and the Board of Criced Cymru / Cricket Wales wish to thank Mark for ensuring that we continue to deliver for all involved in cricket as we move towards the summer.
