A blue plaque was unveiled at the gates of St Helen\'s today to celebrate the rich cricketing history of the ground and its contribution to the sport.
The venue which saw West Indies' Sir Garfield Sobers hit six sixes in an over in 1968, as well as hosting Glamorgan victories over cricket's leading nations, such as Australia and the first international cricket match in Wales was recognised for its rugby history last year.
Glamorgan's chief executive Hugh Morris was joined by the county's leading wicket-taker Don Shepherd and Balconiers supporters group chairman John Williams as well as representatives of Swansea Council, Glamorgan supporters and youngsters from Swansea CC to witness the occasion.
