Will Bragg became the second Glamorgan batsman to reach 1,000 first-class runs for the season, and later the first to 1,000 in the four-day competition during the Welsh county’s second innings of their Specsavers County Championship match against Essex at Chelmsford.

Bragg went into the game with his first-class tally standing at 984 runs, and after a first innings duck, a flurry of fours , including a cover drive against Ravi Bopara saw the left-hander reach the 1,000-run mark for the third time in his career having amassed 1,033 runs in 2011, and also 1,008 during 2014.

After completing his fifty, Bragg reached 1,000 Championship runs with a push into the covers against Tom Westley but next over he feathered a catch down the leg-side into James Foster's gloves as Ryan ten Doeschate ended his innings.
