On Friday, May 2nd, Cardiff Cricket Club celebrated the official opening of its newly renovated nets, marking a significant upgrade to the Club's practice facilities. The evening was made even more memorable by the attendance of Glamorgan cricketer Henry Hurle, who took part in fielding drills and later hosted a lively Q&A session with some of the Club’s enthusiastic Under 9 and Under 11 players.
The renovation of the nets was made possible partly thanks to funds raised through Glamorgan’s Cricket Club Commission Scheme. Cardiff CC has been one of many Welsh Cricket Clubs to benefit from the initiative over the past two years, which has provided clubs across Wales with an opportunity to generate additional income over the summer.
The Commission Scheme enables Cricket Wales-affiliated Clubs to earn 50% of the ticket value back in cash for every ticket sold for Glamorgan’s Vitality Blast group stage matches at Sophia Gardens via their club-specific ordering links. These funds can then be reinvested into grassroots cricket, whether it's improving ground facilities, purchasing new training equipment or helping to grow a junior section.
Fixture details of Glamorgan’s upcoming 2025 Vitality Blast campaign can be found here.
The 2025 Cricket Club Commission Scheme is now open, and all Cricket Wales-affiliated Clubs have been sent their unique ordering links via email. Clubs that haven’t received their link or those seeking further information about the Cricket Club Commission Scheme are encouraged to get in touch by emailing clubtickets@glamorgancricket.co.uk.
