Glamorgan suffered their third defeat in the Royal London One-Day Cup going down to Somerset at The SSE SWALEC after the visitors posted 338.
The Welsh county will need to pick up a run of wins to have a chance of reaching the knock-out stages, with eighteen-year-old Kiran Carlson top scoring in today's match with 63 off 59 balls. The teenager's 50-partnership with Will Bragg the main resistance for Glamorgan with the bat.
”it was a nice opportunity to bat for a long time" said Kiran "and our intention was to have wickets in hand towards the end. But they kept falling in clusters, and we never got into any sort of a winning position.
After starting in the early season Championship fixtures Carlson hit a century for Glamorgan 2's against Gloucestershire before the start of the Royal London One-Day Cup to stake a claim in the side.
"I was a little surprised to start the List A games, but its been good to develop my skills in this area and score a few runs", he commented.
Glamorgan next face Essex Eagles who like Somerset have also started the competition in fine fashion with two successive wins, but the Welsh county will need to stop their run if they are to have any chance of progression. Carlson believes one good performance can help Glamorgan turn the corner.
"We’ve done a lot of preparation and we’re not going to change much in our process. It’s more about getting the little things right and as soon as that happens and we get one good win then we can get on a roll."
