Glamorgan have completed the loan signing of 26-year-old Nottinghamshire bowler Andrew Carter, who will join up with the squad for the next four LV= County Championship matches.
Carter, who took 12 wickets in a month-long loan spell at The SSE SWALEC earlier in the season, is expected to be added to Toby Radford's squad for the home clash with Leicestershire, starting on Monday.
Head coach Radford was delighted to add depth to his bowling attack as Glamorgan eye promotion from Division Two with renewed optimism on the back of three consecutive championship wins.
I'm really pleased we've been able to bring Andy Carter back to Glamorgan, he said.
He added a lot to the side in his previous spell here and we was a good fit with the dressing room so it's great to have a player coming in who can hit the ground running.
It's crucial to manage the workload of our seam bowlers in what will be a very busy period and we hope the additional depth will enable us to continue our championship form.
Carter joined Glamorgan in April as cover for the injured Michael Hogan and played the first three matches of the season before being recalled to Trent Bridge.
He had hoped to feature in Nottinghamshire's LV= County Championship fixture against Durham following his re-call but an abdominal strain left him sidelined for two weeks. He has since made a return to fitness and featured for Nottinghamshire's second eleven.
I really enjoyed my time with Glamorgan and it's great to see them challenging at the top end of division two, said Carter.
It's no surprise to me that they have put themselves in contention because there are a lot of good cricketers at the Club and it's a very positive dressing room.
I'm fully fit and keen to get overs under my belt and get back to taking wickets.
Carter's instrumental spell of 4/53 against Derbyshire put Glamorgan in a winning position before the weather intervened in their rain-curtailed draw in May.
The 26-year-old will add firepower to the Glamorgan bowling attack, which performed so effectively in dismissing Surrey twice at Guildford earlier this week, as Glamorgan aim to stretch their unbeaten run in the four-day format.
