Celebrating the Summer of Cricket with SSE SWALEC

4 Jun 2015 | Cricket
The new logo reflects the shape of the stadium to bring it in line with SSE's other sponsored venues - The SSE Arena, Wembley (formerly Wembley Arena) and The SSE Hydro in Glasgow - but still maintains the association with SWALEC known to cricket fans across Wales.
Glamorgan chief executive Hugh Morris said: The support of SSE SWALEC for Welsh cricket throughout our partnership has been invaluable. The company has helped us reach out to the community we serve, nurture the game at grass roots and reach a wider audience.

As a major player in the UK energy market, The SSE SWALEC is a brand that will bring with it nationwide recognition and as a Club in the national spotlight, we're delighted that the name of our ground will reflect this.

The re-brand of the stadium to The SSE SWALEC also emphasises the long-term nature of this important partnership and we look forward to continuing to work together to enable cricket to thrive in Wales.

Meanwhile, the fun 90-second fan film, entitled 'Crazy about Cricket', is to be shown on the big screen at all home fixtures and was filmed in and around the ground.

The film was launched at a VIP event at the stadium this week, attended by local media and special guests including SSE SWALEC customers who have joined the SSE Reward loyalty scheme, which aims to give members benefits and 'money-can't-buy' experiences.

Guests enjoyed an evening hosted by SSE SWALEC Ambassador and Glamorgan spin bowl coach Robert Croft, who also took part in a live question and answer session with players Michael Hogan, Dean Cosker, and Jack Murphy.

Guests also received a goody bag of SSE SWALEC's new, limited edition merchandise created in partnership with local cult brand, I Loves the 'Diff, proclaiming I don't like cricket, I loves it, adding a Cardiff twist to the line from 10CC's classic song.

With the first Test of The Investec Ashes being held at The SSE SWALEC next month as well as Glamorgan's domestic fixtures and a T20 international between England and Australia, all eyes will be on Cardiff for this exciting summer of cricket.

SSE SWALEC customers can apply for other Glamorgan CCC ticketing offers, exclusive goodies and competitions throughout the summer. SSE SWALEC customers can find out more by signing up, for free, to ssereward.com.
