Glamorgan County Cricket Club is delighted to introduce Club Watch, a new weekly article releasing every Monday on the website, helping followers of Welsh cricket get score roundups from the club cricket weekend across the Men’s South Wales Premier Cricket League, Women’s South Wales Premier Cricket League, Men’s North Wales Premier Cricket League and select cup matches.
The men’s club cricket season in Wales began on Saturday 3 May, with 10 clubs each from the Men’s South Wales Premier Cricket League and Men’s North Wales Premier Cricket League contest a total of 18 one-day games (50 overs), spread across 18 Saturdays, to win the all-important league title. The men’s season also includes the Welsh Cup, a 40-over tournament held on selected Sundays, and the T20 Knock-Out Cup, a 20-over knock-out competition.
The women’s cricket season in Wales begins on Sunday 11 May, although clubs like Radyr CC and Llandudno CC were entered in the ECB Women’s Club T20 knock-out competition.
South Wales Men’s Premier Division One
Bridgend Town 248/9 (A Pierson 54, S Wood 47, T Dalton 39, T Cogbill 31; Z Williams 4/45, R Lewis 3/66) beat St Fagans 233/7 (J Lawlor 66, O Morgan 45, S Reingold 34; A Davies 5/40) by 15 runs.
Newport 148/0 (M Clayden 77*, H Friend 65*) beat Cardiff 147 (S Wyatt 34; K Sahabdeen 3/15) by 10 wickets.
Pontarddulais 152/2 (L Edwards 66*, C Roberts 30) beat Swansea 150 (O Rogers 3/9, I Rees 3/29) by 8 wickets.
Usk 178/3 (H Caldicott 64, M Williams 59) beat Abergavenny 173 (W Glenn 42, O Harris 31; O Rayner 3/29) by 7 wickets.
Ynystawe 283/6 (T Blake 79, N Lee 49, H Tahir 43, M Blake 41; D Roberts 3/52) beat Ammanford 169 (D Roberts 48, C Roach 44; R Palmer 4/27) by 114 runs.
This week saw Glamorgan staff players also playing around the grounds at Premier level. Alex Horton scored 21 from 17 balls and had a dismissal behind the stumps in Ynystawe’s win. Henry Hurle also kept wicket playing for Cardiff CC. The 20-year-old scored 25 from 54 balls in their defeat to Newport. And finally, Billy Root took 2 for 24 from his 10-over opening spell for Usk with an 11 not out to see his side over the line against Abergavenny.
North Wales Men’s Premier Division

Conwy 65/0 (E Williams 50*) beat Bethesda 63 (T Plank 4/2, O da Costa 4/15) by 10 wickets.
Menai Bridge 206/3 (M Jones 95*, J Gower 60) beat Northop 202 (E Colclough 63, J Roberts 32; M Jones 3/36, G Roberts 3/41) by 7 wickets.
Mochdre 284/5 (A Campion 78, W Evans 67, M Humphreys 41, M Mangiameli 39) beat Denbigh 229/9 (R Abeysinghe 64, H Jones 40, M van Voorst 34, I Jones 32*; A Swarbrick 4/42) by 55 runs.

The South Wales Women’s Premier League starts on Sunday 11th May in their 6-strong division. The Panthers will be seeking to defend their title. Meanwhile one Welsh club was in action in the ECB premier club cup competition.
ECB Women’s Club T20 (Round 2)
Royal Wooton Bassett 172/1 (R Fenney 61, T Hopkins 51*, O Ranasinghe 37*) beat Radyr 128/2 (C Clements 73, L Clements 48) by 44 runs.
Glamorgan squad member Lydia Clements captained Radyr in her side’s defeat despite her run-a-ball 48 at the top of the order to go with an economical 0/20 from her four-over allocation.
