It was a short weekend of Premier League cricket in Wales, as women's cricket and men's cricket in North Wales took a break following the half-way mark to the season.
Men's South Wales Premier League was the only major league to run in Wales last weekend, with some interesting matches and high scores on a warm and dry Saturday. Abergavenny CC continued their impressive display in their first season back in the Premier League 1, beating fellow promotion club Ynystawe CC by 128 runs, thanks to a proper team performance in bat and ball.
Tom Bevan's knock of 92 helped Ammanford CC beat Swansea CC by 51 runs, leaving the St. Helen's side at the bottom of the league table at this stage. Cardiff CC recorded a much-needed win, against an in-form Usk CC, in a close encounter at the capital. Pontarddulais CC beat Bridgend Town CC by 7 wickets, but the biggest result came at Croft-y-Ganau Road as Newport CC toppled table-toppers St. Fagans CC by 4 wickets in an exciting run chase.
Glamorgan Director of Cricket Mark Wallace, along with his son and Glamorgan 2nd XI player Harry Wallace, successfully chased a target of 221 runs set by 2024 champions St. Fagans CC, who got to their total courtesy of Glamorgan's Callum Nicholls who scored 82 runs opening the batting.
