As Premier League club cricket in Wales entered its final month, some big scores and results changed the championship/relegation battle in all three leagues.
The men's South Wales Premier League title continues to be up for grabs between Newport CC and St. Fagans CC, as both clubs registered big wins with only 4 games to go in the season. Glamorgan 2nd XI's Harry Friend's scored 134 for Newport CC against Ammanford CC, before leg-spinner Mojeid Ilyas's 6-fer gave the Spytty Parl-based club a massive 199-run victory.
Pontarddulais CC and St. Fagans CC won their games against Abergavenny CC and Cardiff CC respectively to keep the title race alive, while Usk CC beat Bridgend Town CC in the mid-table clash despite Eddie Byrom's 77 for the newly promoted team, thanks to Tamoor Zafar who scored an unbeaten 82 to win the game for Usk CC. Ynystawe CC's new-ball partnership of Rhys Morgan and Aditya Singh ran through Swansea CC's batting line-up, winning the game by 10 wickets after captain Nathan Lee's unbeaten 53 chasing 97 runs.
Up in the North Wales Premier League, the battle for the title is much more competitive, but Brymbo CC's win over Bangor CC puts the former in pole position with 6 games to go. Conwy CC's Daniel Davies scored 93 as his team chased down the 245-run target set by Bethesda CC, while Mochdre CC beat Denbigh CC chasing 170. Northop CC and St. Asaph CC recorded big wins batting first.
In the women's South Wales Premier League, Glamorgan's Isla Thomson scored a remarkable 133 as The Panthers CC recorded a massive 190-run victory against Newport CC, after Glamorgan Pathway bowler Carys Jenkins's astonishing spell of 4-4-0-4. Cardiff CC made light work of Briton Ferry Steel CC, restricting them to only 58 runs, and chasing down the small total with 9 wickets to spare.
