Club Watch - Wales Premier Club Cricket Weekend 3

19 May 2025 | Cricket

As the third weekend of Premier League club cricket commenced in Wales, the weather in the Land of Valleys turned bright and sunny, giving the cricketers perfect conditions to represent their clubs. It was another successful outing for Glamorgan's men and women cricketers, as some big wins and thrilling matches made for a perfect weekend of cricket, followed by the Club's big win at Sophia Gardens over Northants.

Most of the women's players made themselves available for Sunday's South Wales Premier Women's Cricket League, despite playing at Brecon only a day before in the Vitality T20 Women's County Cup. Lydia Clements continued to impress for her home club Radyr CC, scoring a run-a-ball half-century, and also picking up a wicket in her 8-over spell. Charlotte Scarborough scored 70 runs off 72 balls for Newport CC, while her club and Glamorgan teammate Rose Evans scored 67 off 77. Isla Thomson scored 88 runs off just 66 balls for the Panthers CC, also bowling an economical spell with the ball, conceding only 19 runs in her 5 overs. Megan Janczewski also got a half-century, scoring 59 off just 45 balls batting for the Panthers CC. Five Glamorgan batters crossed the half-century mark playing for their clubs this weekend.

In the men's league, Tom Bevan scored an outstanding century batting for Ammanford CC, as the south-west Walian club registered a victory against Usk CC, for whom Billy Root scored 33 runs chasing a stiff target of 315. Alex Horton got his first half-century of the club cricket season, scoring a run-a-ball 72 for Ynystawe CC. Henry Hurle too got a high score batting for Cardiff CC, scoring 65 off 45 balls.

There were some high scores in the North Wales Premier League as well, where some Wales national county players and age-group players were in the runs on a high-scoring weekend across the country. Here are the summary of scores from the three leagues:
