Colin Ingram signs for another 2 years at Glamorgan

Glamorgan County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that this year’s Player of the Season, Colin Ingram, will be staying at the Club for another two years.

The destructive white-ball batter has broken records in red-ball cricket this year. He posted five First Class centuries in 2024 and reached 1,000 runs for the season in a Club Record 13 innings. This broke the 1972 Club Record set by Majid Khan for the fewest number of innings to reach the milestone, when he took 15 innings to reach 1,000 First Class runs.

Not content with this, Ingram scored a career-best 257* against Leicestershire at Sophia Gardens, the first First Class double century of his career. His seasonal average of 90.06 in First Class cricket is the highest ever in the Club's history, surpassing the 81.16 by Michael Neser and 71.71 by Marnus Labuschagne in 2023. In addition, his tally of 1,351 runs made him the country's leading run-scorer in First-Class cricket during 2024.

An integral part of the Metro Bank One Day Cup winning team, Ingram ended the season with 2,001 runs in all formats.

Signing a Kolpak deal with Glamorgan in 2015, Ingram brought International experience to the Club with 31 ODI and nine T20 appearances for South Africa to his name.

The left-handed batter has gone on to be Glamorgan’s most successful overseas batter of the 21st century with 3,941 First Class runs for Glamorgan including 13 hundreds. He has a share in two Club record partnerships - 328 for the second wicket with Eddie Byrom against Sussex at Cardiff in 2022 and, earlier this year, 315 for the fifth wicket with Kiran Carlson against the South Coast club at Sophia Gardens.

Ingram has scored 2,604 List A runs for Glamorgan including 10 hundreds - only Hugh Morris and Matthew Maynard have scored more centuries - and a Club record 3,086 runs in T20 cricket with three hundreds.

Ingram who is pleased to be staying with the Welsh County said: “I’m thrilled to be extending my contract as I’ve found a second home in Glamorgan and it’s an exciting time to be at the club. I love being a part of this group and the team culture that we’ve been working on. On top of that I’m still really enjoying the cricket!

“I have had an amazing season with many memories and milestones, and so to come back and challenge myself to do it all again, and be better next year, is one I’m really looking forward to. I learnt a lot about batting this year and I’m keen to keep building on that as well as helping others around me.

“I receive so much support and encouragement from people in the Club, the team, and supporters local and from abroad. I’m extremely grateful for this as it makes the tough days easier and the good days so much more rewarding. For this I want to say thank you!”

Glamorgan Director of Cricket, Mark Wallace added: ““Colin has been a huge part of the Club over the last 9 years and did fantastically well last season.

“He’s a fantastic influence on and off the field and we’re delighted that he’s going to be staying with the Club for the foreseeable future.”
