The First Class Counties and County Cricket Boards who make up the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) received a copy of the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC) report at the same time as the general public, when the report was published today. We are therefore reading the report and its recommendations for the first time today and prioritising fully digesting its contents and understanding the commission’s recommendations.
It is clear already that the report contains significant learnings for cricket to take on board and action in order that we improve our offer and service to traditionally under-represented groups, and to restore or improve trust and confidence in some of the systems, structures and culture within our sport.
Glamorgan Cricket and Cricket Wales also recognise that this report will be difficult and potentially distressing reading for some of our members, fans, participants, and people involved at all levels of cricket.
Our position is clear - Discrimination has NO place in Welsh cricket, nor in Welsh society, and we take all allegations of discrimination in all forms extremely seriously. We want people to know that anyone can report discrimination in the knowledge that we will act appropriately.
To report anything to which you have been subjected, or have witnessed, you can do so using this link: England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) - The Official Website of the ECB. You can report what you have experienced or witnessed anonymously by entering Anonymous@ecb.co.uk in the email address field. If you do wish to be identified and / or contacted in relation to what you have experienced or witnessed, please include your name and contact details.
We look forward to the opportunity to engage fully in the ECB consultation process in the coming months to drive further positive change across cricket.
