Glamorgan Head Coach Robert Croft admitted his side had been under-par in their 10-wicket defeat to Gloucestershire and rued a clutch missed chances during the match.
Croft, who saw his Glamorgan side slip to a seventh defeat in this season's Specsavers County Championship which leaves the Welsh county 8th in the table, pulled no punches in his assessment of the match.
Glamorgan made 220 and 232 in their two batting efforts, which proved costly in the end.
Croft said: "We let ourselves down badly in the first innings, on that pitch which was green and damp to start, to get bowled out for 220 with some pretty slack batting after we got to 130 for 3 was not ideal.
"We had a couple of chances the second morning and didn't take them, it cost us, then in the third innings the pitch was flat, we played some slack shots and it cost us."
The Head Coach insisted that Glamorgan have a promising group of young players who can play entertaining cricket, but wants his charges to show more composure and maturity with the bat, even though three key players were missing for the Welsh county in this match.
"The only entertainment I want is winning entertainment," he added.
"But we've had a lot of young players this year who are learning the game, we've got a number of senior players out (Jacques Rudolph, Colin Ingram and Chris Cooke), and that's telling."
The former Glamorgan and England spin bowler will be desperate for his side to put things right in their next match, away at Division Two leaders Essex at Chelmsford.
