Glamorgan County Cricket Club is delighted to confirm that Assistant Coach, David Harrison will assume the role of Men's Team Head Coach for the 2025 Metro Bank One-Day Cup campaign.
As shared by Glamorgan Director of Cricket Mark Wallace in Monday’s Member Forum at Sophia Gardens, Harrison will be assisted by Ian Harvey and Colin Ingram as we look to defend our 2024 title. Head Coach Richard Dawson will then resume his duties following 2025 Welsh Fire commitments in The Hundred.
With long-term Glamorgan playing and coaching associations, David previously took charge in the 50-over format between 2021 and 2023, including our One-Day Cup win in 2021.
"I've had some good experiences in three years of doing the One Day Cup including fantastic memories of Trent Bridge in 2021,” he said.
“We've had some initial conversations as to how it's going to look this year. Ideally it would be lovely to win the competition, but it's also going to provide opportunities for more people to get exposure in the first team. We've had younger guys coming in at times in the T20 and performing, but it's difficult to plan too much with so many moving parts.”
On Colin Ingram’s coaching involvement, David added, “Colin has got a wealth of experience across all formats of the game. He's done some coaching with our pathway players and he's a great leader in that changing room as well.
"He'll still be available to play, but initially we're going to use him in a coaching role in that competition."
Our Metro Bank One-Day Cup campaign begins with two home out-ground matches as we welcome Hampshire and Derbyshire to Neath on Tuesday 5 and Thursday 7 August. Please click below for information on Sophia Gardens fixtures.
