Earlier that season Glamorgan had also been victorious by the same winning margin at Sophia Gardens after a stand of 135 in 28 overs between Jamie Dalrymple and Ben Wright saw the Welsh county home with sixteen balls to spare.
In all, Glamorgan have met Derbyshire on 48 previous occasions with the Welsh county winning on 16 occasions and losing 28 times. The game at Derby in 1999 was tied, whilst three other games ended up as No Results.
Viv Richards holds the record for the highest score for Glamorgan in List A cricket against Derbyshire with the great West Indian batsman having made an unbeaten 109 at Ynysangharad Park in Pontypridd during the Sunday League encounter in 1992. As far as bowling is concerned, Steve Barwick produced the best-ever figures for the Welsh county against the Peakites, with the off-cutter claiming 6/28 at Derby during the Sunday League game during 1993.
