Double-header is a big hit with schools

The start of the domestic season may only be a fortnight away but there has already been a tremendous uptake by schools and colleges for Glamorgan Cricket’s free ticket packages for accompanied school groups to watch Vitality Blast games at Cardiff during 2024.

Over 3,000 tickets have been allocated for the Double-header taking place on Thursday, 13th June when Western Storm meet Thunder, followed by Glamorgan’s Blast contest against Hampshire. While 1,875 school tickets have been snapped up for the match the following week on Thursday, 20th June when Glamorgan meet Gloucestershire in another all-action game at Sophia Gardens.

“We have been thrilled by the response to our offer, especially for the Double-header on 13th June,” said Andrew Hignell, the Education and Heritage Co-ordinator of Glamorgan County Cricket Club. “The feedback from teachers making bookings for that date has included a host of comments of how nice it will be for the children to watch both a women’s and a men’s game on the same day. They have also thanked us for making these school tickets available allowing children to have their first taste of a live cricket at Sophia Gardens.”

All schools that take part will also benefit from a parent and sibling discount for these matches. If you would like further information about the free ticket package for accompanied school parties to attend the games on 13th and 20th June, please send an estimate of the number of tickets you require for pupils and staff to: schools@glamorgancricket.co.uk .
