England need to score another 56 runs to make India bat again, after losing late wickets in the final session on day 3.
After winning the toss in this match, England have failed to make it count and are suffering from their first session when the top order collapsed. India were able to establish a first innings lead of 134 after finishing their first innings 417 all out, with five players scoring half centuries.
India had never had three batsmen at No7 or lower each score half centuries in a Test, but Ashwin, Jadeja and Yadav managed to do so today against England. In their second innings England have already lost the crucial wickets of both openers as well as Bairstow and Stokes and look consigned to a second successive Test defeat.
Jayant Yadav, who made his maiden Test 50, speaking on Sky Sports: "It was a really proud moment. Jadeja took the pressure away from me. We took it one ball at a time.
"The idea was to bowl more in the stumps and it came off. We've got four good wickets today and looking to pile on the pressure tomorrow.
"I feel the best thing about his team is that they didn't make me feel like I was playing for the first time.I didn't feel out of place in the dressing room.
