The National Theatre Wales has teamed up with Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys to create The Insatiable, Inflatable Candylion, a festive event somewhere between a theatre show and a live music gig, inspired by Gruff's seminal album Candylion and performed at Glamorgan's headquarters, The SSE SWALEC.
Aberdare-born Tim Price has written the show, which will feature a mix of new songs and old favourites, all written by Gruff. And there's a cracking cast of actor/musicians, including Gruff himself, Sweet Baboo, Lisa Jen Brown (lead singer of 9Bach), Remy Beasley, Matthew Bulgo, Dyfan Dwyfor, Natasha Lewis, Dyfrig Morris, Kliph Scurlock and Emma Daman Thomas.
Audiences aged from four to 104 will enjoy meeting a host of characters including Caruin, Cheffyl, Meringutan, Sledgehog, Pale Droid and all the inhabitants of Pixel Valley, where there's a whiff of revolution in the air...
This is an opportunity to see some of the best writing, singing and acting talent Wales has to offer in a unique production by the country's English language national theatre company, performed in the heart of the capital.
If you are looking for a Christmas show with a twist this year, The Insatiable, Inflatable Candylion will be performed at The SSE SWALEC, Cardiff, from December 16 to January 2. To book your tickets, call 029 2037 1689, or visit
