Glamorgan Cricket are pleased to announce that ex-England and Essex wicket-keeper batsman, James Foster will be joining the Glamorgan coaching staff for the Vitality Blast.
Foster will work as a T20 consultant for the tournament alongside the current coaching set-up, headed by Matt Maynard.
Despite only retiring from the game in 2018, Foster already has a wealth of coaching experience working with Khulna Titans in the BPL, Pesahawar Zalmi in the PSL, Sydney Thunder in the BBL, the Vancouver Knights in the Canadian GT20, the Afghanistan Boost Defenders as well as Worcestershire and England Lions set-ups.
Foster enjoyed a successful and long playing career which spanned 18 years and 289 First-Class appearances and 179 T20s for Essex, and also included seven Test, 11 ODI and five T20I appearances for England.
He took over the Essex captaincy in 2010, holding the role for five years, and helped turn the side into an impressive one-day outfit. He was also part of the side that won the Specsavers County Championship in 2017.
During his career, Foster claimed 839 catches and 62 stumpings and scored over 19,000 runs in all formats with 23 centuries.
Consultant coach, James Foster, said: “I’m excited to be working with Glamorgan in their upcoming Vitality T20 Blast campaign, and very much looking forward to joining up with Matt Maynard, Colin Ingram and the talented Glamorgan group."
Mark Wallace, director of cricket, said, “We’re delighted to be able to bring in James Foster to bolster our coaching ranks for the Vitality Blast.
