Glamorgan 2nd XI met Northamptonshire 2nd XI today behind closed doors at Spytty Park, Newport in their next match in the Second Eleven T20 competition.

After defeats earlier this week to Warwickshire and Somerset, Glamorgan 2nd XI – the reigning champions in the competition – returned to winning ways as they won the contest by two runs (DLS Method).Batting first, Glamorgan made 141-6 with Callum Taylor top-scoring with an unbeaten 47 against an experienced Northants attack which featured forwer South African international Wayne Parnell as well as T20 stalwarts Josh Cobb and Graeme White. Richard Levi, the former Springbok international was also in the Northants line-up having struck 98 in their game yesterday against Gloucestershire. However, after clubbing an early boundary against Prem Sisodiya, the left-arm spinner gained revenge as Roman Walker held onto a good low catch at mid-off.

Sisodiya also claimed the wicket of Amrit Basra during a frugal spell which saw Glamorgan nose ahead of the par score. With Ruaidhri Smith also in parsimonious mode, Northants were unable to get any momentum and despite a couple of sixes from Cobb, Glamorgan were still ahead when torrential rain fell over the Spytty Park ground during the 12th over and washing out any further play with the visitors on 71-2.
