Ruaidhri Smith takes 5/18 as Glamorgan 2nd XI defeat the MCC Young Cricketers

With places up for grabs at Second Eleven T20 Finals Day next week at Arundel, Glamorgan 2nd XI did their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages no harm today as they recorded two victories over the MCC Young Cricketers in their back-to-back games at Finchley CC.

The second match saw captain Tom Cullen blast 78 with 10 fours and a six before Ruaidhri Smith dismantled the MCC top-order. On his birthday and the anniversary of his remarkable spell last year in the T20 game at Richmond, Ruaidhri claimed career-best figures of 5/18 in his four overs as Glamorgan won by 63 runs, leaving the squad and 2nd XI coach Steve Watkin waiting on results from elsewhere to see whether or not the Welsh county had qualified for Finals Day next week at Arundel.
