Glamorgan 2nd XI win and lose at Newport

Glamorgan 2nd XI won one game and lost the other in their back-to-back Twenty20 contests with Somerset 2nd XI today at Spytty Park in Newport.
The first game saw a half-century from Murray Goodwin guide Glamorgan to a six-wicket victory after Somerset had been restricted to 143/5 in their 20 overs, Goodwin (56) shared a stand of 91 in 11 overs with Chris Cooke (42), with Ben Wright also making an unbeaten 23 as the Welsh county won with eleven balls to spare.


In the second encounter, Glamorgan's bowlers were on top at first as Kieran Bull, Tom Helm and Robbie Williams all claimed two wickets each as Somerset made 119/9 in their 20 overs. After Stewart Walters had launched Glamorgan's reply with four boundaries in the powerplay overs, and David Lloyd had struck a quickfire 26 off 22 balls, wickets tumbled at regular intervals as Jack Leach claimed five wickets with his left-arm spin with Glamorgan dismissed for 98 as Somerset won by 21 runs.
