Batter Sam Northeast celebrated his first year at the Club by winning three gongs at the 2022 Glamorgan Player Awards.
Northeast took home the Player of the Year Trophy after a fabulous year with the bat, which saw him top the run-scoring charts in the County Championship and the Royal London Cup and set numerous batting records for the Club, including our highest individual first-class score and highest individual List A score.
The 32-year-old also picked up the County Championship Player of the Year and the White-ball Player of the Year Awards at the ceremony held at The Towers in Swansea.
Northeast famously smashed Steve James’ Club record for the highest individual first-class score when he hit 410 not out in the dramatic victory over Leicestershire and became the first batter to score 400 in the County Championship since Brian Lara's 501 in 1994 and just the fourth man in the history of the county game to pass the mark in an innings.
Just two months later his record-breaking season continued when he broke the Club’s highest-ever individual List A score as he made an unbeaten 177 against Worcestershire at New Road.
Northeast was also prolific in the Vitality Blast this season and was the Welsh county’s leading run scorer with 510 runs at an average of 51, which included four half-centuries.
In the scintillating victory over Middlesex at Sophia Gardens, Northeast (89) with David Lloyd (67) shared a partnership worth 150 - a record in T20 cricket for Glamorgan.
Across the season, Northeast played 35 matches for the Club and amassed 1,990 runs.
Young batter Tom Bevan also enjoyed a successful night in Swansea winning the 2nd XI Player of the Year Award and the John Derrick Young Player of the Year Award.
Bevan enjoyed a breakout season with the Club, hitting centuries across all three 2nd XI competitions and helping them become 2nd XI T20 champions.
In the semi-final of the Second Eleven T20 competition against Middlesex 2nd XI he made 132 from just 69 balls and in the process broke the Glamorgan Club record for the highest-ever individual score in T20 cricket.
As well as his 2nd XI exploits, the 23-year-old from Cardiff also made his mark in the first team this season, making his debut across all three competitions.
Bevan played six matches across the formats, the highlight a maiden one-day hundred in the victory over Hampshire at Neath. The St. Fagan’s batter smashed 134 from just 103 balls, hitting nine sixes along the way as he became the first-ever Glamorgan player to hit a List A century at The Gnoll.
In a special award on the evening, legendary seamer Michael Hogan was inducted into the Glamorgan Hall of Fame.
The 41-year-old has been a Club stalwart and a firm fan favourite amongst members and supporters since joining the Welsh county in 2012.
He made 273 appearances for Glamorgan across all formats, taking 654 wickets and is the Club’s top wicket-taker in T20 cricket with 114.
Hogan was named as Glamorgan’s Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014 and was awarded his Glamorgan cap in 2013. He was also appointed as Club captain in 2018 and led from the front in the County Championship that year with 45 wickets.
Last summer, he finally picked up his first silverware with the Club, aptly taking the final wicket in the final at Trent Bridge against Durham to secure the Royal London Cup trophy.
Finally, Callum Nicholls took home the Academy Player of the Year Award. The St Fagan's Cricket Club product was a key member of the Wales U18 team that won the inaugural ECB U18 T20 Cup.
Nicholls scored over a thousand runs for the U18 team in all competitions this year, which included four centuries and a match-winning knock of 84 in the 50-over Cup semi-final against Surrey.
He also scored over 500 runs in the Premier League, including back-to-back centuries against Port Talbot Cricket Club and Pontarddulais Cricket Club.
