Glamorgan Cricket has confirmed its 2022 pre-season schedule with fixtures against local rivals Somerset and Gloucestershire and a match against the Cardiff UCCE students.

The Welsh county will begin their LV= County Championship preparation with a two-day friendly against Somerset at Taunton Vale (March 21-22) before taking on Gloucestershire at Bristol (March 30-31).

New captain David LLoyd and his side will then play a three-day game against Cardiff UCCE at Sophia Gardens, starting on Saturday, 2nd April.

Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “After a really good winter, the players are excited for the season ahead.

“We’ve organised some tough pre-season fixtures against really strong opposition which will provide our players with a good test before the start of the County Championship season. Gloucestershire and Somerset are Division One teams, and it will be interesting to see how we measure up against them.

“We’ve also seen the benefit of playing intra-squad matches in the past and it’s something we’re keen to do again this year. They’ve always been very competitive, hard-fought games and ideal preparation for the season ahead.”

Pre-season fixtures:

March 21-22 – Somerset v Glamorgan (2-days) @ Taunton Vale
March 30-31 – Gloucestershire v Glamorgan (2-days) @ Bristol
April 2-4 – Glamorgan v Cardiff UCCE (3-days) @ Sophia Gardens
TBC – Intra-squad match @ Sophia Gardens

More details around the live stream provision for these fixtures will be confirmed in due course.
