Glamorgan Announce Squad for Home Fixture Against Leicestershire

28 Aug 2024 | Cricket

Glamorgan selectors have announced a 13-man squad for the home fixture against Leicestershire at Sophia Gardens starting on 29 August.

A quick turnaround for the side following the defeat at Derbyshire, Glamorgan will look to get back on track at home for the final leg of the Vitality County Championship 2024. The hosts sit in 6th position in the Division 2 table, not far off Gloucestershire and Leicestershire who are in 4th and 5th respectively, and Sam Northeast's boys will look to close the gap and move up the table following an excellent 50-over campaign.

Ben Kellaway sustained an injury in the match at Derby, and no replacements have been named for this fixture, as Head Coach Grant Bradburn backs the 13 players to shine at home. Zain ul Hassan continues getting some much-needed game-time playing for the second XI after sustaining a hamstring injury in June. James Harris, Alex Horton and Eddie Byrom continue to work on their recoveries from injury.

View from the Camp - Head Coach Grant Bradburn:

"As coaches we have been impressed with the acceptance and response to the defeat at Derby. The work ethics can’t be faulted and most importantly the positive mindsets around finding solutions and applying our skills to situations better has been excellent.

"There is a strong positive culture within the group lead by the captains and senior players, which is guiding this team in a positive direction of continual improvement.

"We know that improvement is not linear and we certainly don’t fear losing as we strive to put ourselves in winning contention more often in this format."
