Edward Rice has been appointed as the new Head of Commercial of Glamorgan Cricket and will begin his new role in January.

Ed will move from his role as Partnerships Manager at Liverpool Football Club to assume responsibility for the commercial operations of Glamorgan Cricket.

Originally from Newport, Ed has a strong commercial background in sport having spent time in senior management positions at the Welsh Rugby Union and Liverpool Football Club.

Ed joined the Welsh Rugby Union as a Senior Partnership Account Manager before moving to Liverpool Football Club in 2017.

His knowledge and experience working in the current sports market set him apart as the outstanding candidate for the head of commercial role.

Speaking of the appointment, Chief Executive Hugh Morris said: “We are delighted to welcome Ed to Glamorgan Cricket at such an exciting time for the Club.

“As we emerge from the COVID pandemic, Ed’s focus will be to maximise attendances for our High-Profile Matches and domestic competitions at Sophia Gardens and he has a great opportunity to grow the profile and interest in the game of cricket in Wales.

“Ed has a proven track record of delivering commercial success at two major sporting bodies and I am confident he will enjoy the same levels of success in cricket.

“We are looking forward to welcoming him to the Club in the New Year.”

Ed Rice said: “As a proud Welshman, I’m honoured and thrilled to be appointed to lead the commercial operations at Glamorgan Cricket.

“It is an exciting time for the Club on and off the field and I look forward to developing a strategy to grow the profile of cricket in Wales and attract new audiences, which will ultimately open up further commercial opportunities for the Club.

“I've enjoyed the challenge of working for two world-renowned sporting brands and will endeavour to take what I have learnt into cricket.”
