Glamorgan confirm squad departures

Glamorgan Cricket can today announce that five players will be leaving the club when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Lukas Carey, Ruaidhri Smith, Joe Cooke, James Weighell and Tom Cullen will all leave Glamorgan at the conclusion of the current season.

Seamer Carey, 25, made his first-class debut against Northamptonshire at Swansea in 2016 and went on to make 70 appearances for the Welsh county across all formats, while Scotland international Smith (28) debuted in 2013 and featured in 67 matches.

All-rounder Cooke, 25, joined the Club in 2019 and made 29 appearances, while Weighell (28) signed last year and played 36 times.

30-year-old Australian wicket-keeper Cullen signed in 2017 and featured in 36 matches for the Club in all competitions.

Speaking of their departure, director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “There are always tough decisions to be made when planning for the future and assessing the make-up of the squad going forward.

“All the players leaving have made significant contributions to the Club and I would like to thank the players for their commitment to Glamorgan during their time here and everyone at the club wishes them the best for their future endeavours”
