Glamorgan begin their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign tomorrow (Friday) as they welcome local rivals Gloucestershire to Sophia Gardens Cardiff.
Robert Croft has named a 13-man squad with new white-ball captain Colin Ingram set to make his first appearance of the season for the Welsh County after a busy winter which saw him feature in the Big Bash League for the Adelaide Strikers and Pakistan Super League for Karachi Kings.
All-rounder Graham Wagg returns for the 50-over competition, while Glamorgan Pathway Player Jack Murphy is in line to make his debut in the Royal London One-Day Cup having played his only List-A match against Pakistan A at Newport in 2016. Wicket Keeper Tom Cullen also makes Glamorgan’s squad for the first time this year.
After missing Glamorgan’s first set of Specsavers County Championship matches, Wagg is relishing being back in the first team fold.
"It's good to be back involved,” said Wagg. “It was disappointing to miss out on the first round of the County Championship games but I've been working hard and played in a couple of games for the second team.
“We've been practising today and again tomorrow ahead of Friday so just looking forward to getting out there.
"We're a good white-ball team as we've shown over the last number of years and the boys are really looking forward to getting out there".
Glamorgan boast recent bragging rights between the two sides, defeating the 2016 Royal London One-Cup Champions by 18 runs in Bristol last year.
“They're [Gloucestershire] a difficult team and a good white-ball team and they've showed that over the last couple of years now so it's going to be a good challenge. The weather looks good so hopefully we can get a good crowd in.”
The Glamorgan stalwart has been ever present in the Club’s white-ball teams since he first arrived in Wales in 2011, and now feels silverware is a realistic target for the Welsh county after an impressive couple of years in limited overs cricket.
"Getting to the final and winning it is the goal I suppose. We've been there over the last couple of years and the T20 finals day last year and just fell slightly short so we're looking to take it one step further this year.
"It was a difficult season last year in the 50-over cricket but we were still in with a shout halfway through so we're again looking to go one step further but taking everything game by game.”
