Head Coach Robert Croft has made one change to his squad with Kiran Carlson returning for Glamorgan\'s Royal London One-Day Cup clash with Sussex at Sophia Gardens Cardiff.
It was a tough day at the office for Glamorgan at Chelmsford in the week as they went down to Essex by nine wickets.
With three games left in the 50-over competition the Welsh County cannot progress into the knockout stages but will want to finish the campaign strongly. Sussex meanwhile have seen their last two matches in the Royal London One-Day Cup abandoned with the weather working against them.
The absence of Shaun Marsh, who earlier this week linked up with Australia for their tour of England, represented an opportunity for Glamorgan Pathway player Connor Brown. The young batsman has scored heavily for the 2nd XI and was promoted to the first-team, making his List-A debut against Essex. Brown scored an assured 31, batting at number three and vice-captain Chris Cooke was impressed with the 21-year old.
"Connor made his debut and batted nicely," said Cooke. "If other guys are given a chance I’m sure they will be looking to impress and bring a new energy into the team which will be nice."
Meanwhile, Kiran Carlson has finished his university commitments for the year and comes straight in to the squad for the encounter.
The all-rounder played in all eight of Glamorgan's Royal London One-Day Cup games last season, hitting a maiden List-A half century in the process. Carlson's return is welcome news to Cooke who is hoping he can make an immediate impact.
"Kiran Carlson is coming back from his studies and he’s been really good in the 50 over competition for us so he can come in and hopefully make an impact.
"We’ve got a good squad but just not performing so it’s down to the players to reach their potential and win games.”
