Head coach Matt Maynard has named a 12-man squad for Glamorgan's Royal London One-Day Cup match against Kent Spitfires at Sophia Gardens tomorrow.
All-rounder Jeremy Lawlor will make his List-A debut for the club, while fellow all-rounder Craig Meschede, who has been opening the batting for the Welsh county, misses out after picking up an injury in the match against Somerset.
The Welsh county are still looking for their first victory in the competition having lost their opening three fixtures, which included the narrow loss to their local rivals.
Despite the defeat, Maynard was happy with the character showed by the lower order to get the team close and the way his the side bowled and fielded to restrict the powerful Somerset batting order, but will have to take that same attitude into tomorrow’s game.
“From 21/5 we did incredibly well to get into the contest,” said Maynard. “I thought David Lloyd, Waggy and obviously then the lower order were superb.
“I thought we were excellent in the field, and the change of tactics up top with the ball worked nicely. Somerset are a superb outfit so to restrict them to 262 was very pleasing.
“It would have been brilliant for the lads’ confidence if we nicked it, but I think there was a lot of positives to take out of the game and into the Kent match.
“We’re getting closer and we have to go in to tomorrow with a similar attitude. If we do that then the victories aren’t far away.”
Maynard confirmed Jeremy Lawlor will play in the match against Kent after knocking on the door with some impressive early season performances for the seconds.
“Jeremy Lawlor has been knocking the door down. In three games he has got two 70’s and a five wicket haul so he deserves a chance and will be playing tomorrow.
“He deserves his opportunity; he’s done really well so we are delighted for him.”
