Glamorgan prevail against Surrey in the Second XI Championship

Glamorgan 2nd XI won seven by seven wickets against Surrey at LSE New Malden, with a strong batting performance on day three ensuring victory for the visitors.

The hosts won the toss, and decided to bat first and were justified in their decision with Ryan Patel and Arun Harinath both scoring centuries before declaring on 355. In response Glamorgan declared on 262 with an unbeaten 75* from Aneurin Donald and 73 from Callum Taylor.

It was a day for Glamorgan’s bowlers on day two as the seam attack inflicted the damage with Craig Meschede taking four wickets. The visitors tore through Surrey’s batting order before bowling the hosts out for 105, leaving the Welsh county a target of 199 for victory.

Glamorgan began the chase well and started on the final day 58/1, needing another 141 runs to win. Despite losing a further two wickets, the away side stormed to victory through a strong partnership between Tom Cullen and Aneurin Donald who finished unbeaten on 76* and 64* respectively
