Ahead of their sixth LV= County Championship game of the season against Northamptonshire at the SWALEC Stadium, Glamorgan Head Coach Toby Radford has named a 12-man squad for the match as the Welsh county aims to build on the victory in their last four-day game against Essex at the SWALEC Stadium.
Glamorgan have made a good start to their Championship campaign having completed the first 5 games with an unbeaten record intact. Last time out, Essex were defeated by 89 runs and Glamorgan will have Northants in their sights, who are also unbeaten, sitting 2 points and one place above them in the Division 2 table.
The Championship is going well for us so far, four draws and a very good win against Essex last time out, said Toby Radford. We're happy with how we are playing our Championship cricket, but Northants have started well on their return to Division Two also so I'm sure they will provide a stern test for us over the next four days.
Skipper Jacques Rudolph is topping the run charts for Glamorgan thus far with 434 runs in first-class cricket, including a half-century in last week's victory over Essex.
Craig Meschede is leading the way with the ball after 5 wickets last time out, taking his tally for the season to 19. Graham Wagg also picked himself up a five-wicket haul against Essex to send Glamorgan on the way to their first Championship victory and with Michael Hogan gaining form after his return from injury, the bowling attack looks settled and ready to capitalise on a good start to the season.
Glamorgan include Ben Wright and Dean Cosker in the 12-man squad and there is a place for Ruaidhri Smith as well, however James Kettleborough and David Lloyd are both absent, with Lloyd still recovering from an injury sustained whilst bowling against Essex last week although he hopes to be back bowling in training next week. Youngster Jack Murphy has also returned to training following a side strain.
The match is scheduled to get underway tomorrow (Sunday 31st May) with gates opening at 10am at the SWALEC Stadium ahead of the 11am start each day.
