Glamorgan Cricket is thrilled to announce the signing of top-order batsman Eddie Byrom on a two-year deal from Somerset.
Byrom, 24, will initially join the Welsh county on loan for the remainder of the current campaign before making a permanent move from next season onwards.
The Zimbabwean-born left-hander has featured in over 50 matches, scoring more than 1500 runs across the three formats of the game.
He has struck three first-class hundreds, which includes a memorable century against Essex in the Bob Willis Trophy final at Lord’s last season.
On signing for the club, Eddie Byrom, said: “It’s really exciting to join Glamorgan and start a new chapter in my career.
“This move will give me the chance to experience a new environment and link up again with Matt Maynard, who I get on really well with.
“Glamorgan have a strong squad with some really good young players and hopefully I can help to take the club forward and help them to build on their recent success.”
Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “Eddie is a fantastic addition to our squad and we’re delighted to welcome him to Glamorgan.
“He is a very talented young batsman who is capable of playing across all three formats and will provide competition for places at the top of the order.
“We look forward to working with him over the next couple of years and see his game develop and flourish.”
