Glamorgan return to Specsavers County Championship action tomorrow at Sophia Gardens with Head Coach Robert Croft naming his team for the clash against Durham.
With Glamorgan’s Vitality Blast campaign now over, the match will be Glamorgan’s first of six remaining Specsavers County Championship matches as the Welsh county look to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.
The Welsh county make three changes to the side that suffered defeat to Sussex at Hove last month in their most recent Specsavers County Championship outing. It means that there is a place for Craig Meschede who last played a first-class game back in September 2017 in a winning effort against Kent in Canterbury.
Timm van der Gugten misses out after injuring his shoulder last night in Glamorgan’s final Vitality Blast fixture and is due to have a scan on Monday. The side will feature eight products of the Glamorgan Pathway System, including recalls for Jack Murphy and Connor Brown who missed out on selection during the Vitality Blast campaign. Head Coach Croft believes Glamorgan’s younger players can benefit from inclusion in the first team.
“From a strategy point of view nothing has changed,” said Croft. “We will be giving opportunity to Glamorgan Pathway players and around that we hope the older pillars of our team will be able to help them.
“With six games to go we are still trying to play good cricket and winning cricket. Results come from performance and it’s the performance I’m looking at as a Coach.
“I’m looking at how the team and players can play better and looking at what gains the players are making and when you put that all together you hope that is enough to win matches but they key thing is the performance.”
