Glamorgan Cricket can confirm that day one (3rd June) of its LV= Insurance County Championship match against Lancashire at Sophia Gardens has been selected as an official test event for a return of crowds to venues by the Welsh Government.

Up to 1,000 Glamorgan Members will be able to attend the day with more information, including access to tickets and protocols surrounding the event to be provided shortly.

The pilot will be one of a number of events used by Welsh Government to collect and collate evidence for returning crowds safely to venues in Wales.

Chief executive, Hugh Morris, said: “We are absolutely delighted members will be allowed back into Sophia Gardens and able to cheer on the team.

“We are grateful to the Welsh Government for selecting us as a test event and we will work closely with them, as well as other key stakeholders, including ECB, Public Health Wales and our local Safety Advisory Group over the coming weeks to help prepare for the pilot.

“We understand the positive impact live sport has and collectively we will do everything we can to ensure it is a success, so we can see the full return of fans in the not-so-distant future.

“We are in the process of finalising our plans and we will communicate all information around the event to our members and supporters as soon as possible.”
