Glamorgan unchanged for local rivals Somerset

Head coach David Harrison has named an unchanged 13-man squad for Glamorgan’s trip to Taunton to face local rivals Somerset in the Royal London Cup tomorrow.

Glamorgan currently sit in top place in Group Two with two wins from two, following victories over Warwickshire and Northamptonshire, while Somerset have won their only match in the competition so far.

Hamish Rutherford top-scored with his first Glamorgan half-century in the win in Northampton, with Tom Cullen adding a maiden List A 50 in just his second game in the format. Joe Cooke added to his PCA MVP of the match against Warwickshire with three wickets and some rapid lower-order hitting, and Michael Hogan proved that class is permanent with a vital three-wicket haul.

“Northamptonshire was one of the more comprehensive team performances we’ve put in all season.

“That comes down to the players wanting to place bigger emphasis on the way we play our cricket, where we want to play in a way our members and supporters can be proud of.

“Every time you chip in to a good win it’s very pleasing but the most important thing is winning and I was very happy to contribute.

“We’re very excited to head down to Taunton. Every time you get an opportunity to play a team like Somerset in their own back yard it’s a challenge but one I hope brings out the best in us.

“We’re going down there to win and get to three from three. Everyone is expecting a hard contest but we need to do everything we can to be on the right end of it.”

Head-to-head – Somerset v Glamorgan

The Welsh county have lost their last four encounters with the West Country side, including a nerve-jangling contest at Sophia Gardens in 2019.

Glamorgan’s most recent victory over Somerset in List A cricket came in a rain-affected game at Taunton in 2014 by 95 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis Method
