Hampshire are currently in second place in the table, despite losing to the Welsh county when the two sides met in the opening contest of the competition at the Ageas Bowl. Whereas Glamorgan, currently in fourth place in the table lost on Friday night to Surrey by 17 runs at Cardiff, Hampshire won for a fifth time as they defeated Gloucestershire by two runs in a contest which went down to the final ball.

When Hampshire visited Cardiff in June 2010, Glamorgan were the convincing winners as they won by seven wickets, with Jim Allenby taking the honours as the all-rounder guided his side to victory. Their contest at the Welsh county's headquarters in June 2011 was washed out by rain, but when Hampshire visited the SWALEC Stadium for Twenty20 Finals Day in 2012, they went on to win the tournament after victories over Somerset in the semi-final followed by a second win against the Yorkshire Carnegie in the floodlit final.

Sean Ervine took 2/22 before top-scoring with an unbeaten 34 as Hampshire defeated Somerset who had posted a below-par score of 125-6 after a typically frugal spell of 2/11 by Dimitri Mascarenhas. The seamer then claimed 2/20 in the final as Yorkshire attempted to chase a target of 151, but they faltered against the accurate Hampshire attack with left-armer Chris Wood claiming 3/26 as the South Coast side won by ten runs.
